Porch Denies Responsibility for Paul Walker's Death

Paul Walker died in the crash in Santa Clarita in November 2013

Porsche has denied responsibility for the fatal accident in which Fast & Furious star Paul Walker died in November 2013.

The German sports car manufacturer released a statement in response to a lawsuit filed by the actor's daughter Meadow Rain Walker on Monday which argued that defects in the Porsche Carrera GT he was in meant he was trapped in the vehicle after the crash.

It said: "As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed."

Ms Walker, 16, is suing the company for unspecified damages and also claims the car lacked a proper stability control system, as well as safeguards to stop it catching fire after a crash.

The actor was on a break from filming the seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise when he was killed.

He was a passenger in the Carrera GT driven by friend and business associate Roger Rodas when the car spun out of control, struck three trees and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, California.

The 18-page lawsuit includes a detailed account of the crash and claims that the Porsche was travelling at between 63 and 71mph when it spun out of control.

It states: "Absent these defects in the Porsche Carrera GT, Paul Walker would be alive today."

Investigators have concluded the car was travelling much faster - at up to 94mph - when it crashed.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the California Highway Patrol concluded that it was unsafe speed, not mechanical problems, that caused the crash.

Porsche engineers evaluated the wreckage of the car as part of the investigation.

The lawsuit also alleges the car lacked proper reinforcements in its doors and used rubber fuel lines that did not break free to prevent a fire in a crash.

Similar allegations of design and safety defects were included in a wrongful death lawsuit made by Mr Rodas' widow, Kristine Rodas. That lawsuit remains pending in a Los Angeles federal court.

Mr Rodas, a father-of-two, was a trained race car driver and was only driving 55mph, according to his wife's lawsuit.

Mr Walker co-owned the Always Evolving auto racing team with Mr Rodas. Meadow Walker is the sole heir of his estate.

The actor's two brothers helped complete actions scenes in Furious 7, which earned more than $1.5bn globally after it was released in April.

Paul Walker's case is raised from the dead. Porsche sued for car crash

Paul Walker attends premiere of Fast & Furious 6 in London

Meadow Rain Walker, 16, is suing the company for unspecified damages, arguing that defects in the Porsche Carrera GT meant he was trapped in the vehicle after the crash.

The suit claims the car lacked a proper stability control system, as well as safeguards to protect passengers and stop it from catching fire after a crash.
Crash scene

Celebrity website TMZ claims to have seen the legal papers and that they allege the car had "a history of instability and control issues".

The lawsuit reportedly claims the actor became trapped because the car's seatbelt "snapped Walker's torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis" - meaning he could not escape the fire.
Porsche has so far not commented on the claims.

Walker, 40, died in the one-car crash in Santa Clarita, California, in November 2013.

The car was being driven by his friend Roger Rodas, who was also killed.

Walker was on a break from filming the seventh instalment of the Fast & Furious film franchise at the time.

Walker had completed most of his scenes before his death, but Universal Pictures was forced to put production on hold to figure out how to continue filming without him.

The film was eventually released in the UK in April this year.

Snoop Dogg launches a website dedicated to Cannabis or what u might call Weed

Snoop went for a preppy look at the TechCrunch event

Snoop Dogg has made no secret of his passion for cannabis - and now he's expected to court further controversy by launching a website dedicated to the drug.

The rapper revealed he's behind a new lifestyle platform called Merry Jane at a TechCrunch Disrupt event in San Francisco.

Speaking on stage, Snoop said the site will provide users with "all they need to know" about marijuana and feature videos and interviews with other high-profile users.

The site, which Snoop has worked on with media entrepreneur Ted Chung, is said to have the support of outspoken weed users Seth Rogen and Miley Cyrus.

Merry Jane will also have its own series where each episode focuses on an aspect of pot.

Snoop also hopes it will help people be more upfront about their cannabis use: "There are so many people in the closet, and we are giving them an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke.

"I'm a smoker, my name is Snoop Dogg, and I'm a stoner."

He added that he thinks "Merry Jane is a game-changing platform for pop culture. It's a new frontier y'all!"

The site is expected to be fully up and running within weeks.

A number of US states have decriminalised marijuana or allow it for medicinal purposes

Jackie Collins Dies at 77 of Breast Cancer

Jackie Collins
Jackie Collins
Jackie Collins, the beloved best-selling novelist, has died, PEOPLE has exclusively learned.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today," the Collins family tells PEOPLE in a statement.

"She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words."

Diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer six-and-a-half years ago, Collins, 77, chose to keep her illness almost entirely to herself, confiding primarily in her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.

Collins, who sat down with PEOPLE on Sept. 14 at her Beverly Hills home for what would be her last interview, had no regrets about the decision to keep her cancer journey private while she embraced a very full life until her very last days. "Looking back, I'm not sorry about anything I did," she said during the far-ranging interview that saw her spirited, warm and utterly at peace.

"I did it my way, as Frank Sinatra would say. I've written five books since the diagnosis, I've lived my life, I've travelled all over the world, I have not turned down book tours and no one has ever known until now when I feel as though I should come out with it," said Collins, whose treatments over the years included a lumpectomy, radiation and various drug courses and combinations.

"Now I want to save other people's lives."

While Collins was a prolific writer for over four decades – more than 500 million copies of her novels have been sold around the globe and her latest book, The Santangelos hit shelves in June – it was her family, including her sister, actress Joan Collins, brother, Bill, her daughters and six grandchildren that brought her the most pleasure.

"I love being with my family," she said. "I love sitting out by the pool and watching my [grandkids] play."

As for her daughters, she said last week, "I'm so proud of them" and, her voice breaking, Collins added, "I want them to feel secure and I want them to feel whatever happens, I'll always be there."
