Lets talk fashon all the way. When the fashion was good this year, it was really, really good.
There were beautiful lace dresses, edgy crop tops and feathered skirts that literally took our breath away. A few stars (ahem
Solange Knowles,
Lupita Nyong'o and
Amal Alamuddin) consistently hit it out of the park, while other celebs surprised us with their fashion prowess.
To help summarize all the best style moments from the past 12 months, we've rounded up the 14 most amazing outfits of 2014. Enjoy the sartorial goodness and let's hope these A-listers continue to kill it in 2015!
Olivia Wilde in Gucci at the Golden Globes

Wilde shone (literally!) on the red carpet in this shimmering emerald dress. It seems as though her baby bump only made her more stylish, as this long, form-fitting gown was one of her best ensembles ever.
Margot Robbie in Gucci at the Golden Globes

If you didn't know Margot Robbie's name, you did after you saw her in this stunning gown. The "Wolf of Wall Street" star looked drop-dead gorgeous in this tight-fitting white dress with a high-slit. Not only did it fit her like a glove, but she managed to show the perfect amount of skin.
Kiernan Shipka in Tory Burch at the Tory Burch Flagship Opening

The 15-year-old actress looked adorable in this embroidered top with matching pants. And we love how the "Mad Men" star completed the outfit with a pair of nude wedges and casual hair. If only all celebs were as well-dressed as this teen.
Emma Watson in Valentino at the Valentino show

Everything about this outfit is perfect. The lace crop top is balanced out by the high-waisted, maxi skirt and her single pearl earring makes the entire thing a little edgy.
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture at the Academy Awards

A long black gown is a classic, but it can make you blend into the crowd -- but not this dress. The interesting neckline, dramatic skirt and beautiful sheer panels ensure that Charlize is the belle of the ball.
Lupita Nyong'o in Prada at the Academy Awards

This was Lupita's princess moment. The Oscar-winning actress looked like she was floating along in this elegant, feminine gown. And can we talk about the headband for a minute? That could have been a style disaster, but instead it took the look from beautiful to stunning.
Miroslava Duma at the Louis Vuitton show

The Russian fashion plate always turns heads, but this particular outfit is especially great. The color and asymmetrical hem on the trench makes it something special, while her gold belt helps to define her waist and gives her a nice shape.
Blake Lively in Gucci at the Met Gala

Jaws literally dropped when Blake Lively stepped onto the red carpet in this gown. As Ryan Reynolds joked to André Leon Talley during the red carpet arrivals, it looked like the dress had been "painted onto" his wife. Between the cape and the plunging neckline, we find it hard to believe that the actress will ever top this ensemble.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Emilio Pucci at the amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala

There are a few things that are amazing about this dress. First of all, the color. Yellow is exceptionally difficult to pull off because if you pick the wrong shade, it can look awful against your skin tone. But this canary yellow gown is magnificent on the model, as is the expert draping and the subtle cut-outs.
Solange Knowles in Calvin Klein at the CFDA Awards

Is that Diana Ross? No, it's just Solange looking gorgeous, per usual. She doesn't tend to wear slinky gowns, but this looks so good, we think it should be in her regular rotation.
Camila Alves in Zuhair Murad at the Emmys

Alves knows how to strike the perfect balance between sexy and sophisticated. This gown hugs her every curve but also makes a strong statement. Does she ever get it wrong?
Amal Alamuddin in Stella McCartney during their civil wedding

This. Is. Perfection. Every single thing about this outfit, from the wide-leg trousers, to the wide-brimmed hat, is making Mrs. George Clooney the style icon to watch. Not only does she look statuesque, but the entire ensemble is so fresh and clean. A+, Amal.
Jenna Lyons in a Prada fur jacket, J. Crew Collection skirt and Celine shirt at Solange Knowles' wedding
WireImage
Only Jenna Lyons could combine fur, feathers and a classic white-button up shirt and make it look this damn good. Though this is definitely an elevated look for the J.Crew Creative Director, she kept her signature red lipstick and thick-rimmed specs so it still felt true to her style. Take notes people, this is how you stop traffic.
Olga Kurylenko in Alessandra Rich at the 'The Water Diviner' premiere

This dress is kitschy in all the best ways. The faux-pocket details and the white belt are fun additions to this otherwise sleek, pale pink lace dress. Had these elements been on a less sophisticated gown, they would have looked tacky rather than fashion-forward.
